Emax Veneers vs Zirconia Veneers

Which is the better option between Emax Veneers and Zirconia Veneers? Here’s what you need to know about these dental veneers for smile restoration.

One of the best options for improving both the quality and appearance of your smile is to consider dental veneers. Dental veneers are effective at restoring the structure and natural look of moderately broken tooth giving you a plenty to smile about. They help you achieve your dream smile because they are specifically customized to your liking.

The two common types of dental veneers to choose from are Emax Veneers and Zirconia Veneers.

Emax Veneers vs Zirconia Veneers

The popular choices for dental veneers are Zirconia and Emax. Each of these veneers has its own unique features, appearance, and benefits. Let us look at the qualities of each.

Emax Veneers

Also known as Lithium Silicate, Emax Veneers has distinctive features that make it highly effective at restorative dentistry. It is used to make full crowns for restoring broken or damaged teeth.

Emax veneers are translucent in appearance- a quality which gives them the ability to provide a more natural appearance to your teeth.

Zirconia Veneers

Zirconia veneers are a type of ceramic material known as zirconia oxide. They are used to make full or partial crowns for restoring a damaged tooth. Zirconia veneers are manufactured in different shades, allowing you to select the type of shades that best matches the color of your existing teeth.

Zirconia veneers are designed to give your teeth a natural appearance so that you can feel more confident flashing your smile.

Although the shade of zirconia veneers tends to wear off over time, it is worth noting that this material has an unbeatable strength and can last a long time. A porcelain finish is normally combined with zirconia to make it more durable and appealing.

Should You Choose Emax Veneers or Zirconia Veneers

The choice between these two materials will depend on your preferences and on the tooth’s location on your mouth.

In terms of strength, both Emax veneers and Zirconia veneers are durable. However, zirconia is stronger than Emax. Zirconia is the better option for restoring a darker tooth located underneath because it does not allow a lot of light to enter.

Again, E-max has a better light transmission and translucency, making it more appealing to those who are conscious about aesthetics. Emax Veneers allow more light, giving your teeth a more natural appeal. They will give you a quick boost of confidence, knowing that no one can tell you’re wearing dental veneers.

porcelain crowns

The Beauty of E.Max Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns have long been the cosmetic dentist’s best friend. They  provide a long lasting, beautiful restoration that is very esthetic.   The cosmetic enhancement uses of porcelain crowns include, changing color of teeth, closing gaps between teeth, fixing teeth that are crooked or crowded, changing shape or size of teeth. Porcelain crowns are also used to cover and protect damaged teeth, (tooth that had root canal treatment, broken, cracked, large fillings), and to act as a new tooth in the case of dental implants.

Full porcelain crowns, unlike porcelain fused to metal crowns, has translucency.  The porcelain’s translucency allows it to reflect light much like natural teeth. There are many different types of porcelain utilized in many different ways, however, the limiting  factor has always been strength against fracture. E.max porcelain crowns have combined optimum translucency and strength.

What are E.max Porcelain Crowns?

E.max porcelain crowns are a highly esthetic crown originally developed to be used on implants. Dental implant porcelain crowns require greater strength against fracture than crowns on natural teeth. E.max porcelain crowns (due to superior strength) can also be made thinner than other porcelain crowns, allowing for more natural translucency and beauty.  E.max porcelain crowns are made from a single block of lithium disilicate ceramic. This type of porcelain is considered a very high grade material which has been harvested for its toughness, durability and opaque qualities which make for a highly prized crown.

E.max porcelain crowns are considered to be a perfect match against the backdrop of your natural teeth. The transparent color, lifelike shape, along with its light reflection properties create the ideal restoration. There is no metal framework on e.max porcelain crowns which means there is never a chance of a grey line of metal showing through your gums. They are strong, long lasting and unlikely to crack or fracture as compared to many other types of crowns. They are considered to be at less risk of chipping compared to zirconia porcelain crowns.

The beauty of this technology is that e.max is not limited only to porcelain crowns. The same techniques and materials are available for porcelain veneers, porcelain inlays, porcelain onlays, and porcelain crowns over dental implants.

E.max lithium disilicate glass ceramic delivers the fit, form, function, and esthetics demanded by modern cosmetic dentistry but with the enhanced strength and light reflecting properties dentists demand as well. Since the e.max porcelain crown system was introduced almost 40 million restorations have been  and they have been proven effective for use.

Any Disadvantages of e.max porcelain crowns?

-The main disadvantage of e.max porcelain crowns is with the cost. The lab equipment and highly specialized lab training to make this crown are the reasons why the quality comes with a higher price tag.

-The second disadvantage with e.max porcelain crowns is that it can not be used to make a porcelain bridge, and fusing of  more than 2 teeth is not recommended.

-The third main disadvantage is, as with most porcelain crowns, there tends to be a higher chance of sensitivity after the crown is cemented in place. The sensitivity may last days or weeks.

Conclusion

E.max porcelain crowns have proven to be a very useful cosmetic dentistry tool. Dentists and patients no longer need to compromise when it comes to the esthetic look of the final restorations. You no longer need to worry about crowns looking unnatural. E.max porcelain crowns will give you something to smile about!

Dental Market

3D Printing The Dental Market

The dental industry is transforming into a fully-digital one quicker than most dentists imagined, and 3D technologies are completely altering the way in which dental solutions can be approached thanks to its ability to print a variety of complex shapes on demand, in a variety of applicable materials, in significant volumes.

No other industry currently adopting 3D printing has the same combination of high value, high performance, and high volume parts required by the dental industry, making 3D printing a near perfect fit for true disruption and game changing capability compared to existing traditional methods of production.

In fact, dentistry is such a good fit for the principal value of 3D printing, that nearly every 3D printing process and major provider can apply its technology to the space in some way –although not all do today, they may in the future. Both polymer and metallic applications exist in significant variety, for everything from surgical guides and models, casting and tools to aid in traditional techniques, to actual dental restorative components for both temporary and permanent solutions.
